This comprehensive, accessible 14-hour programme equips you with the confidence and skills to support adults experiencing poor mental health. By taking this course, you become a vital point of contact, ready to provide early intervention and guide people toward the help they need.
Course Content:
Identify & Intervene: Recognise the signs of poor mental health and provide vital first-level support and early intervention.
Guide to Support: Confidently encourage individuals to identify and access professional help and other support networks.
Communicate Effectively: Master active listening and empathy to navigate conversations with improved mental health literacy, helping to break down stigma.
Understand the Role: Dive deep into the responsibilities of an MHFAider, including how to maintain safe boundaries and confidentiality.
Protect Your Wellbeing: Learn and practise critical self-care techniques to look after your own mental health.
Access Tools: Know exactly how to use the MHFAider Support App®, access the dedicated Shout text service, and unlock ongoing learning with MHFA England.
Course Format:
Delivery: Available online or face-to-face, led by an expert MHFA England Instructor Member.
Time & Flexibility: 14 hours of total content structured across four flexible sessions (maximum 3 hours 45 mins each). These can be delivered comfortably within a two-week period.
Approach: A dynamic mix of instructor-led training, group discussions, and individual/group activities. Each session builds progressively on the last, giving you the confidence to apply the Mental Health First Aid action plan in real life.
Size & Safety: Group sizes are strictly limited to 16 people. This ensures our instructors can keep everyone safe, fully supported, and included while they learn.
